Terms & Conditions
Last updated: October 19, 2026
These terms apply to your use of the Dict app ("Dict", "we", "us") on iPhone, iPad and Mac. By using Dict you agree to them. They add to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Apple EULA"), which also applies; where the two differ, these terms apply as far as the Apple EULA allows.
1. The app
Dict is a personal dictionary for learning languages: you add words and phrases, get their translations and details, keep them in sync across your devices through iCloud, and study them. We may improve, change or remove features over time.
2. Subscriptions
- Some features, including AI word details, need a subscription. The plans, their prices and what each includes are shown in the app before you buy.
- Subscriptions are bought through your Apple Account and renew automatically at the end of each period, monthly or yearly, at the price shown, unless you turn off automatic renewal at least 24 hours before the period ends. You're charged within 24 hours before the renewal.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings, also reachable from Dict's "Subscription" screen. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the current period stays paid.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its rules - see reportaproblem.apple.com.
- A plan includes a number of word details a month. A longer entry can count as more than one. Details you don't use don't carry over to the next month.
- Plan limits and prices may change. A price change for an active subscription is announced by Apple before it applies.
3. Translations and AI-generated content
Translations and word details are produced automatically - on your device by Apple's translation, or by an AI service. They can be inaccurate, incomplete or, rarely, inappropriate. Use them as a learning aid, not for anything where an error could cause harm, such as medical, legal or safety matters. If something is wrong or offensive, please tell us through "Send feedback" in the app.
4. Your content
The words and phrases you add are yours. They're stored on your devices and in your iCloud, and we don't claim any rights to them. You're responsible for what you add. Only what's needed for a feature you use leaves your device, as described in our Privacy Policy.
5. Acceptable use
Don't misuse Dict: don't try to get around its limits or subscriptions, access its services or our servers other than through the app, overload them, or reverse engineer the app except where the law allows it.
6. Availability
We work to keep Dict running, but features that rely on internet services - word details, sync, feedback - may sometimes be unavailable. We may suspend access for anyone who breaks these terms.
7. Disclaimer and liability
Dict is provided "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we give no warranties beyond those in the Apple EULA and aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by relying on a translation or word detail. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by law.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here and change the date at the top; for significant changes, we'll let you know in the app. Using Dict after a change means you accept the updated terms.
